Tears are Truth. Love them.
This piece is an homage to our tears, a salute to their deep Healing power. Countless times I have heard my female clients say “I am not a cryer, never have been” but here`s the thing : we really should honour our tears. Tears are a purgative. They represent authenticity and strength and courage as the truth of the emotion asserts itself, finally surfacing so that it may heal and release.
Not always but occasionally the process of Healing will trigger a Healing crisis however I must emphasize that Healing is a journey and not an end-point ; it is a continuous process of release and purification. It is widely acknowledged that a physical Healing crisis – variously known as the detox reaction, the cleansing reaction, and the Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction – can occur during or after a dietary cleanse, or sometimes after reflexology and massage, when environmental toxins that have accumulated in tissue throughout the body, especially fat tissue, begin to dislodge and flush into the bloodstream. Additionally, the human body has bacterial colonies and as the bacteria die off they release endotoxins and this physical purification can cause nausea, skin eruptions, bloating, excessive perspiration, fatigue, diarrhea and other unpleasant symptoms which typically last up to three days.
This article however is about an altogether different kind of Healing crisis, one that is metaphysical and emotional in nature and I stress here that only a few will experience an emotional Healing crisis. A Healing crisis is a response to an intention to heal. By the time a person walks through my door they have already made an agreement with their Higher Self about the Healing they will receive, but they`ll never receive more than they can handle. Occasionally a Healing session will precipitate a temporary emotional crisis because the crisis is symptomatic of the system re-organizing itself. Transpiring post-session is the comprehensive re-ordering into coherence, harmony and balance within the individual`s physical and subtle bodies. This process is working to return the quantum field (you) back to an optimal state of balance. The body has a natural tendency towards wellness and homeostasis and the corrective process underway post-session attests to the wisdom and innate intelligence of the system. Active post-session are mechanisms of release and purging from cellular memory and the internal environment, however this organic response may bring up discomfort and temporary malaise as you move through the layers. Tears not shed previously will likely be shed now as the heart opens. Please honour them.

The therapeutic benefit of a good cry is recognized by psychologists. Tears are healthy because they help us process the loss, resolve the grief, heal the heart and assist physical detoxification. Grief is held in the lungs and sobbing – a normal, healthy expression of grief – helps to shift the stored and stuck emotion out of the lung tissue and cells. The deeper breathing and expulsion of air with each sob brings movement to the depths of the lungs and to the emotion. Studies have shown that emotional tears (as distinct from reflex tears and continuous tears) actually contain stress hormones and accumulated toxins that are excreted from the body through crying. Additional studies also suggest that crying stimulates the production of endorphins and elevates mood, and after emotional crying our heart rate and respiration slow and we enter a calmer biological and emotional state.
The process of release is not always elegant or tidy and it is not always linear and orderly. You may find yourself questioning your belief structures, your choices, your identity – pretty much everything may come up for review. This may cause temporary confusion as the quantum field is rearranged and you are primed to hold more light and receive new light frequencies.
An emotional Healing crisis can occur if there is a history of abuse or trauma, suffering or separation ; it can occur as long-held wounding is healed and released or when a previously unresolved emotion is finally honoured, notably repressed grief, anger or resentment. A Healing crisis can feel acute and difficult to endure because the Healing work brings awareness to the emotion, allowing the individual to finally be present to it. The Healing crisis may even be regressing the individual back into the dire phase of the causal event. A Healing crisis of this nature may feel extremely unpleasant, rough, confronting and almost claustrophobic, as though things are closing in, however the intensity typically eases quickly and should pass in a couple of days.
The bottom line is this : if you were not present to the pain at the time of the event, if you pushed the hurt down and buried it in the interests of self-preservation and survival in order to “move on” quickly then it will resurface at some point in your future timeline expressly to be healed. Unresolved emotion needs to manifest, be it in a physical presentation or mental/emotional imbalance. Around 12 years ago and in the midst of a deep and eviscerating grief event I read a short book about loss (in all its many forms) and the key message was that we must be present to the grief in all its vastness. As hard as it is, eventually we just have to sit with it. In Western culture we are encouraged to “keep busy” but this sets us up for difficulties further down the line and an increased susceptibility to Depression. In pop-psychology parlance those exhibiting a spectrum of behaviours and traits considered to be indicative of Type A personalities – the highly competitive, perfectionistic, ambitious, goal-driven, workaholic, impatient over-achievers who set the bar high for themselves – are more likely to move into continuation mode, pushing down the emotion, denying it and carrying on without missing a beat.
The cacophonous noise stops.
A common experience post-Healing is the sense of being in a kind of void or a space of nothingness. What’s happening here is that the work undertaken in the Healing session is dismantling old mental programmes, emotional patterns and conditioning. As these ingrained habits unravel and begin to vibrate out it creates an energetic gap. The ceaseless old rumination, drama, out-dated beliefs and jumble of unconscious patterns are dissolving thereby allowing high-frequency Light and information to enter and permeate that void and create a shift in your energetic frequency and vibration. This in turn transmutes more density. It allows a big beautiful space of higher consciousness to anchor in your Light-Body and your energy matrix, one that is bursting with limitless potential as you transfigure into wholeness, Love and forgiveness – forgiveness for yourself and forgiveness for those who did the wounding. In the void the seeds of profound transformation are sewn.
The journey of self-enquiry takes guts and fortitude but honouring the process as you transition through an emotional Healing crisis yields rich rewards. Soon enough you will find yourself inhabiting a space of new knowing, certainty, self-possession and sovereignty while holding the vibrational resonance of joyful well being.
So, what are you going to do with your new-found freedom? How will you co-create your glorious, empowered, sparkling, big new future timeline? I`m super-excited for you.
